Aid & Attendance Allowance

The Aid and Attendance (A&A) allowance is an additional monetary benefit paid by the VA to eligible veterans, their spouses, or surviving spouses who require assistance with activities of daily living or are housebound. The allowance is meant to help pay for care in the home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. It can go towards hiring home health aides as well.

To qualify for A&A, the veteran must already receive a VA pension or disability compensation. They must also require assistance with at least two activities of daily living (like bathing, feeding, dressing, etc.) or be housebound.
