Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after exposure to a traumatic event, such as combat, sexual assault, or a natural disaster. PTSD can cause intrusive symptoms like flashbacks or nightmares, avoidance of reminders of the event, heightened anxiety and emotional reactivity, irritability, trouble sleeping, and feeling detached. Symptoms interfere with daily functioning.
